Jörg Remé | Works 1976 - 1995Experiments with Western and non-Western art traditionsIn the development of the morphology of his 'artificial figures' (which took shape in the years between 1969 and 1975) Remé entered a period of intense experimentation. He confronted his 'figures' with the varied imagery of the great modern movements - from the Metaphysicals, the Futurists and the Cubists to the Neo-Expressionists, the 'Neue Wilde' and the Postmodernists. In his great travels he was influenced by the exotic imagery of many cultures, expecially of India and South America. He succeeded in creating a bridge between his own imaginary world and other non-Western cultures. In achieving this he broadened the scope of his own perspective as an artist. |
